I need to apologize because I am watching The Talented Mr. Ripley as I write this. It is very distracting to me because I love the movie so much.

The past week has been pretty good. Last weekend the Showbiz Expo (convention of new technologies for the film industry) was in town so I went to that with Josh, but the great thing was that because the convention was in town the cinematographers mailing list that I am part of (it's a big e-mail group) was having their meeting. It was very nice to finally meet some of the people who I've learned so much from.

Going to one of the meetings was great because I was one of the youngest people their so many of the older DP's their took it upon themselves to give me advice. I learned a lot. As one of them told me, he could tell me everything he knows because I'm no competition to him. I thought that was a good way to put it.

The coolest guy that I met was this older English man (now living in Australia I believe) I walked up to a group of people who he was talking to and this man was just so funny and charismatic that he really just took control of the group, but in a good way. Anyway, this man was very interesting to listen to.

At first he was talking about things that didn't relate directly to cinematography. That was interesting because everyone else was only talking about cinematography. But inevitably the conversation came back to cinematography. And when it did, he brought up that he worked on Thunderbirds. That was all that needed to be said. From that night on that man was the coolest person I have ever met. He went on to say other cool things and he taught me a lot, but that all pales in comparison.

Besides that not much new going on. I have a few possible jobs coming up that I'm looking forward to and my parents will be visiting the end of this month.

I finally saw the movie best in show, Angelia and I watched it together. I was expecting to hate it but I ended up really liking it. She was right.

Tomb Raider comes out this weekend.
