My parents came up today. And they brought Frankie. My god Frankie is a great dog. As I am writing this she is pacing around my apartment. That lets me know we're related. I'm a big pacer.
So AI comes out tomorrow. As I'm sure everyone knows I am a big time Kubrick fan. He was the best director ever, period. 2001 is the movie movie ever made, period.
I'm watching a documentary on Kubrick now and that got me thinking how the only Kubrick movie I ever looked forward to coming out was Eyes Wide Shut (I was 11 when Full Metal Jacket came out). I was just thinking how exciting it must have been to be around for the release of Kubrick's movies. Each of them so different from any movie ever made before then. And to experience a Kubrick movie without knowing anything about it...god that would have been wonderful. I'm really sad that I was not around to experience that.
I can not imagine what it would have been like to sit down in a dark theater and see 2001 without having any idea what to expect.
When Kubrick died I figured that I'd read as much as I can about his unfinished projects (AI being one of them) now that AI is coming out tomorrow I'm upset that I did that. I know the rough story that Kubrick was shooting for but I've been able to not hear anything about what Spielberg has done with it. I'm very excited to see it but I'm not really a big Spielberg fan. Many Kubrick fans I know wish the Spielberg wouldn't have made the movie, but I'd rather see something then nothing.
But I really can't wait to see AI tomorrow!
