I actually got busy. I've been working, and I got work coming up! I'm so happy.
I'll try to go order of what happened since my last update.
My parents and my brother visited. We went to San Dingo. We had a great time. We went to the Zoo and the Wild Animal park. The Zoo was good, but the Wild Animal Park was great. It's huge! They have a lot of land the animals have a lot of freedom and the have them in large areas with other animals that would be in the same habitat. It's really a fun way to see the animals. You can also do a photo safari that costs a lot more but you get to pet the rhinos and stuff. There's also a way you can camp out there.
We also checked out the city a bit, ate at a bunch of good restaurants...it was fun. I was really glad everyone was able to come up.
David and I went to Dimples, a karaoke club, one night with my friend Erika and her friend Lela. Lela is an awesome name.
Here's the picture taken of Erika and Whitney on stage.
Erika is on the right wearing a blue and white stripped shirt. Whitney is to her right in the black sweater.
We ended up meeting Whitney that night. She overheard some conversation about Chicago and she started talking to us. Basically she was married but she cheated on her husband. She and her husband got divorced and she stayed with the guy she cheated on her husband with. He cheated on her, and they broke up, 4 hours ago. And she was at dimples and really really drunk.
She really hit it off with Erika and we were all having a good time. David and Erika both really love doing karaoke. When David was signing some guy behind me said, "That guy should win." but there really wasn't a contest going on.
So we were all hanging out having a good time and Whitney went out to take a smoke and she disappeared. Like 45 minutes later she comes back to get her purse. She says she met the man of her dreams outside. They are just closing the club so they were doing the last song where they want all the women on the stage so she went up, got that picture taken, and left.
When Whitney went up on stage to sing it was funny because she kissed the guy before going on stage, but was like a quick casual kiss, it was surprising to see that.
I ended up working a couple days for Playboy. It was for the show Queen of Clubs. Basically a contest between 3 strippers. It was really a lot of fun. The DP was very good, the crew was great, and it paid really well. I hope it turns into more work. Everyone involved with it was really nice and professional. It really didn't feel slimy at all.
They actually pay extras to be in the strip club to watch the filming. I need to get some of my friends in there.
I ended up getting a job where I'm going to be imbedded with a bike team doing the Race Across America, or RAAM. They are going to biking from San Diego to Atlantic City in 10 days. It's actually supposed to be the toughest race in the world. Last year someone biked for 42 hours straight.
It's really going to be an amazing experience. They have like 12 camera people, some will be mobile, some will be embedded with teams or solo riders. Each of us though will totally be working alone and it's really up to us to find the story and tell it. It'll really be fascinating to see how this turns out.
It's going to be amazing. I'll crossing America at 20 mph, really seeing it. It's really going to be intense be a part of this. I can't wait. I leave in 4 days.
So I needed a camera light. I've been planning on building one for a while and now I have a reason to get it done.
Here are some pictures of it. On, Off, Backside. I'm pretty happy with it but the RAAM will be the real test. Because it's LED the batteries last for hours which is nice.
There's companies that makes LED lights for cameras but they are 700-2000 dollars, this costs 150-170 to make.
I may start selling them, already a lot of people have shown interest, but they really take a lot of work to make. I'm thinking of building a really big one as well. When I built the first one I put some music on and starting soldiering at 9:30 AM and I swear, I look up at it's 4:00PM. And I only burnt myself once.
I don't think I'm going to be able to go to burning man. It looks like I'll have a movie then. Selling my burning man tickets will be easy though. I may go to Burnin' Bush though. I don't know yet. It's pretty soon after RAAR and I don't know if I'll physically be up for it.
Here's a funny billboard I saw the other day.
