This Days Pictures.
So today I saw the forbidden city, the summer place, and the hevenly palace.
Not much to say about them honestely. They are just like what the pictures look like. It's cool too see them but it wasn't that amazing really. I feel aweful saying that but that's who it was.
I should add that because of the may day holiday (whch lasts a week) it was packed. Which takes a lot away from it. It really was hard to see anthing.
And they are so pushy. I can be standing to see somehting and some old lady will come up to me and shove me out of the way. I don't mean nudge. I mean use all her 80 pounds to do so. It came to the point where I realized that this is simply acceptable behavior and I started doing the same.
So I bought almost all of my gifts for people today. It's funny. When someone sees you buy something when that transaction is complete they come up to you and try to sell you the same thing lower. Then it happens again and again. they never leave you alone.
But, I was successfully gyped today. Upon going trough my wallet this evening I realized that someone gave me 50 dollars from Peru instead of the Chinese dollars. I don't know what the 50 dollars from Peru are worth, but the 50 chinese dollars are worth 6 bucks, so that's the most I could have lost. I figure that's a small price to pay to learn to check my money more carefully.
I found a much better area in Beiging to eat. It's where the local's rather then the tourists eat. I went and pointed to a random (I choose something priced between the low and high end) dish and I got a bowl of a very spicy beef, rice, and vegtable mix. It was very good, but damn spicy. The people at the table next to me (chinese folk) started talking to me. It was two girls and a guy. in their late 20's. First the guy asked me where I was from. I told him LA. then a couple minutes later (I heard him praticing the sentence) he asked me how long I was going to stay in China. the converstaion continued like that for a while, him asked me a new sentence every few minutes. He asked me if I like chinese girls and so on. He wanted me to marry his friend.
Then I started to talk to one of his friends that he was with. He english was very good. When I told her that my girlfriend was vietnamise he insistend that chinese girls are better. It was pretty funny. We talked for a while and then went on our way.
I stopped at a chinese desert shop on the way back and got a peice of choclate cake. It's no good.
I was told that the great wall will be very busy tomarrow, more so then the forbidden city. Chairman Mao once said something to the effect of that to be a man you need to walk the length of the great wall. that made it a very popular attraction. Hopefully because it's so big not all of china will be at the area that I'm going to.
