Woo hoo, I'm in New York City now. I'm staying with Aaron's sister. She had to take a test today so I was on my own for a few hours walking around the city. I was walking around aimlessly until I decided that my goal should be to get a New York City hot dog (a while ago Duane was telling about how a New York hot dog is simply amazing) It was surprisingly hard to find one. Before I found a hot dog cart I found roasted nut carts (a whole lot of them) and a fruit cart. I thought that was pretty funny. By my stereotypes I figured would find a hot dog cart on every corner in New York you know, like I'll see people eating dogs on every corner in China. Anyway, I found one and the dog was only a dollar. It was mighty good. Then I decided to see what the whole roasted nut thing on every corner was about. The guy I went to also had roasted coconuts. I got that for a dollar and he let me try the peanuts. The peanuts were good, but the coconuts were were better. It's really fun to just walk around the city eating things, I wonder if I'll get fat in China.

On the plane to NYC today I was able to sleep. I always try to be tired when I fly. I didn't say one word to the woman sitting next to me. I prefer that I think. So anyway, on the plane I read more of my China book. According to the book, Chinese people are going to be saying hi to me all the time, but if I say hi back they will laugh at me. I'm really looking forward to that. They also say that the Chinese smile all the time. Even when angry or confused.

I ended up in an Asian section on NYC by chance, I was considering buying everyone their gifts then so I could save some time. But then I would need to carry stuff from NYC to china and back to NYC, that would be silly.

One funny thing about walking around here is that even though I didn't walk around in circles I saw the same people a lot. I don't know how that happened really. It's 7:00 now and I have no idea what I want to do tonight. I'll be going out with Alexis but we have no idea what were are going to do.

I think I'm going to walk around and try to find some food soon. I want to bring a sandwich on the plane at least because I really do hate plane food. I did collide with a few people on the street today. I'm glad that happened.

Ok so it's like midnight now. I've eaten a lot of food, way too much. I'm not eating because I'm hungry or anything. It's more just for the experience of being able to specially be like, "I ate blah in New York City!" I got cannoli from a place that had a signed picture of Frank Sinatra. It was pretty good. I also got a cannoli somewhere else but it wasn't as good, hence the 2nd one. I also got some hot wings, which were very good.

I did fulfill my goal to head out and pay 10 dollars for a deli sandwich to eat on the plane tomorrow. I found a place, "Katz" which is where they filmed "the scene" for When Harry Met Sally. I got myself a 12-dollar Rubin. I was happy. I hope they let me bring it on the plane. It was one of those restaurants where everything works the way the restaurant wants it to work. The ordering area has three separate lines depending on what you're going to order, when you order they really rush you, and to pay they mark all your orders on a ticket that you present when you leave. Before ordering I had to sit back and watch how things work for a little bit so I wouldn't make an ass out of myself. I actually did it. I think I was able to fit it. So maybe there is hope for me in China. I also got a black and white cookie. I like the ones at Canters so I figured I'd try one here. I'll eat it on the plane tomorrow.

Not much else to say really...leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow. My feet are already sore from walking in NY. That must be a good sign.
