Before I write about anything new, I remembered something funny that happened last week that I forgot to mention.

When I was on the way to the airport to pick up Jakob and Marta I was running very late because of traffic. I was pretty upset about it because this was my first time meeting Jakob and Marta and I hate to be late.

So I'm at the airport and I park my car. I started running to the terminal (I was still outside) and while I was running I happened to glance down to see what I was wearing. I forgot that I was wearing a blue t-shirt with the Superman logo on it.

The idea of me running in public while wearing a Superman logo was just too funny to me. I couldn't run without laughing. Nothing looks dumber then someone running in public wearing a Superman shirt, except someone running in public wearing a Superman shirt while uncontrollably laughing. I had to stop running.

Today I went to court to be a witness for my friends Andy and Jen their old landlord won't give back their security deposit and last months rent, so they had to sue. Since I helped Jen and Andy move into and out of the house I was a good witness since I could attest to the condition of the house.

They already won the case previously, this was the appeal. Jen and Andy hired a lawyer, their former landlord did not. That is what made it so fun. It also says a lot about the landlord that she lost the case the first time, and she still didn't hire a lawyer for the appeal.

Their landlord spoke English pretty well, but when she was uncomfortable or a bit confused her English skills went down the drain. She would become a mumbling moron. There is nothing funnier then watching a real attorney question someone (it's just like on TV actually...all slick questions and stuff) and then she says ,"Your witness." and then suddenly you're watching witnesses being questioned by someone who can barely form a sentence she's so nervous. It was great. There were times that she would ask Andy a question and Andy simply couldn't answer because no one in the court understood what she was trying to ask. The judge had to ask her to slow down and attempt to only ask one question at a time.

And because Andy and Jen had a lawyer, whenever the landlord would successfully ask a question our lawyer would usually object to the question and the Judge would instruct the witness not to answer. Many times the landlord didn't realize that the judge instructed the witness not to answer so there were many wonderfully awkward pauses as the landlord tried to figure out what was going on.

She also clearly was not prepared to ask questions. Whenever it was her turn to start the questioning there was like fifteen seconds of uncomfortable silence (working in our favor of course) as she would try to figure out what to ask.

At one point in the trial we were discussing a pool repair man who doesn't speak English very well. Because of that he didn't come to the court, instead he wrote a letter which the land lord attempted (unsuccessfully) to turn in as evidence. The best part is when she was explaining that he doesn't speak English very well because she said, "Mr. ******** does not speak well English."

I swear that I am quoting her word for word....and she said that sentence like 5 times within 2 minutes, and it got funnier every time. I had to re-position where I was sitting so I was out of the Judge's line of sight because I couldn't hold in my laughter.

So then I was called up onto the witness stand. I was asked a few questions by our lawyer, I did fine. Then I was turned over to the landlord lady. There was the standard fifteen seconds of silence, she clearly had nothing prepared to ask me. Her first question was: "How often have you been to the Andy and Jen's house?" Previously it was established that I am very good friends with Andy and Jen. So it is very safe to assume that I have been to Andy and Jen's house often (besides when I helped them move in and out).

I told her that I visit Andy and Jen's house 4-5 times a month.

That basically proves that I am very aware of the condition of the house...point lost for her. She then asked "Have you ever seen Andy and Jen's pool?" Again, dumb question....if you went to someone's house 4-5 times a month, you'd think I would have noticed the full size pool in their backyard.

I answer "Yes."

She asks "Did you ever swim in the pool?"

I should mention that the landlord is claiming that Andy and Jen did not maintain the pool well, that is why she asked that question. She wouldn't have known what my answer would have been, but that's why she shouldn't have asked me that question.

I say "Yes."

She asks "How often?"

I say "About 4 times."

So she basically just established that Andy and Jen kept the pool in good enough shape that I swam in it a couple times.

Again, she's hurting herself. But she caught on and didn't ask me any more questions.

By the way, the landlord has no idea as to how a court works. Many times she would interrupt the proceedings asking if she could ask a question now or some stupid thing like that. I know more about how a court works just from the episodes I watched of LA Law years ago with my Mom.

My friend John from Chicago is coming up tonight. He'll be up for a few days. He's bringing up a friend. I'm sure we'll have a great time.

Oh, and that music video I was going to shoot has been postponed. Our location backed out at the last minute or something. I'm not producing it so I don't know everything about what happened. It will happen, but we're not sure when. I will probably shoot another lower budget 16mm video within a few weeks, but I don't know if I'll have time to shoot that music once they get the ball rolling again.

So how's that for a segway, huh? The reason I may not be able to shoot the is because I just found out I'm working on Terminator 3.

I'm totally excited about it! I met with the DP of it yesterday and I'm not sure what my position will be in the camera department, but I will be on set, and he's going to teach me a lot. It's a really great opportunity.

I should mention that I am very purposely being very vague. I do not intend on giving any details about the film or the production. Do not e-mail me asking me ANYTHING about the film, or the production....I will not give out any information about it.

The bad thing about Terminator 3 is that I won't have time to visit Leah in Chicago until the filming is over. That does suck, but luckily she's very understanding and supportive of it. She's going to be coming to LA in a week.
