So I did the how to make a sand castle video. It ended up being really fun. I loved it.

Here's a picture of the Drip Castle, and King Neptune. The shoot ended up taking five days. It was supposed to be four but we got shut down one day by the police because we didn’t have permits. We actually didn’t have permits for any of the days but that was the one day we got shut down, so we just ended up changing locations that day.

What was funny is how that started making us all pretty over caution about getting caught. So a story ended up being made up about how the mans wife was in hospice and how she loved sand castles and how us making her a tape of us building a sandcastle for her would mean the world to her.

Everyone bought it. But then since the man is so well known in the area, because of his sand castle skills, people who know his wife started to hear the story so undoubtedly he will have a lot of explaining to do in the future.

So then for the rest of the day we were all joking about his dieing wife. It must have sounded pretty morbid if someone overheard us.

The next day we changed to the story so people wouldn’t be expecting the death of someone they know…we said that the mans daughter’s kid (who doesn’t exist) was dying. That story worked equally well.

What was funny with both these stories so really how we all had to stick to them. When some woman would come up to me and ask me what we’re doing I’d have to say,”Oh, his wife is dying so we’re making a video of a sandcastle for her, she loved sandcastles”. Then they’d look all sad and way away.

Oh yeah, and beach bathrooms are really disgusting. I swear that I walked into a bathroom and I saw a man rinsing his hands off in the downstream of water in the urinal, and there was a sink nearby. Why bother washing your hands if you’re doing it in a toilet?

I also got to see this woman swimming without pants on.

There was also some guy at one of the beach parking lots who had a thing for pigeons. He would feed them and just have a whole bunch of them around him, and he did it for at least an hour. The best was the he was playing romantic R&B while playing with all the pigeons, pretty funny.

I hear that little Stanley is crawling like crazy.

I ended up going to the laugh factory tonight. I had plans to hang out with Jen, we were going to see a movie or something but then I got a call and heard that one of my favorite stand ups, Butch Bradley, needed someone to tape his act ASAP so I went over there to do that. Jen came along and she had a great time. It was a pretty mediocre show I thought but she loved it. I was the 8:00 show on a Friday, they have a 10 and 12 show as well and I’m show those are a lot better.

We showed up to the club at around 8:00 and they kids from the comedy camp were just finishing up. The comedy camp is a program that the laugh factory is involved in that takes inner city kids who are interested in comedy and give them a chance to learn to do standup. It sounds sort of weird but it was pretty amazing. Butch told us the stories that some of these kids told him…like and 8 year old talking about trying to wake up some crackhead in her kitchen. But this program has really helped a lot of kids. It has really made a huge difference in a lot of lives.

It was really fun to hang out with all of them upstairs. There was this one little kid, probably 6-8 and was just so charismatic, he was amazing to talk to. He just never turned off and kept telling jokes. It’s behavior I’m totally used to seeing, but never in a kid. The confidence this kid has was amazing. Later I saw the kid do standup by the way and he used the word nigger in his act, a lot…making all sorts of racial jokes. That was pretty disturbing to see him doing that.
